BridgeResearch is a series of networking events for professionals working in clinical and translational (c/t) research at Harvard University and beyond. In these events, hosted by our Postgraduate Education program, attendees are invited to connect with one another while learning more about our program opportunities.

Join us as two industry veterans, Josh Phillips, MBA, Catalyst Health Ventures, and Richard Anders, JD, Mass Medical Angels, share their insights on the current temperature and dynamics in the MedTech funding arena. They will provide funding advice for entrepreneurs and discuss how best to communicate science, share solutions, and point out key aspects to highlight to investors.

Participation will be capped at 200 people, and food will be provided.

Please note that Harvard University requires COVID-19 vaccination for all attendees and boosters for all eligible attendees. Exceptions may be provided for medical or religious reasons. Masks are not required during the event.

Meet the Panel

Josh PhillipsJosh Phillips, MBA – Panelist
Phillips is founder and managing partner of Catalyst Health Ventures (CHV). He is actively involved in all aspects of fund management including investments and capital raising and has led CHV investments in the medical device, women’s health, and molecular diagnostics markets.

Phillips led CHV’s investments in Allegro Diagnostics (acquired by Veracyte), Vortex Medical (acquired by AngioDynamics), SevenOaks Biosystems (acquired by Medline), Sera Prognostics (NASD: SERA), Pavilion Medical, Cruzar Medsystems, Conformal Medical, Brixton Biosciences, EyeCool Therapeutics, and Epitel. He currently is a director of Sera Prognostics, Pavilion Medical, Saphena Medical, and Cruzar Medsystems. Previously, he served as director of Saphena Medical, Allegro Diagnostics, Vortex Medical, and SevenOaks Biosciences.

 

Richard Anders, JDRichard Anders, JD – Panelist
Anders is founder and managing director of Mass Medical Angels (a leading life-science angel group), a long-time entrepreneur, and active investor. He is currently managing director of Rubin/Anders Scientific, which places scientists as experts in litigations. For many years, he taught life-science entrepreneurship at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, started the Science on Screen program, and founded Jurisoft, a legal-software company which he sold to Lexis/Nexis.

Ilsa Webeck, MBA – Moderator
Webeck is founder of MedTech Strategies, which works with companies on new technology initiatives that are focused on identifying value and actionable systems for growth. Her past roles include corporate planning, product management, and early product strategy at Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Spine, Biogen, and Health Advances. She is an invited lecturer for Harvard Catalyst and a member of the Medical Development Group (MDG) Boston board.
