Harvard Catalyst Milestones in Curriculum Development graphic.

The Milestones in Curriculum Development graphic is adapted from the book “Understanding by Design Framework” (Wiggins, McTighe). The graphic is in the form of a wheel showing the different stages of curriculum development. Stage 1 is identify desired results. This is when goals and measurable learning outcomes linked to goals are developed. This leads to stage 2, which is to determine assessment evidence. This is when evidence of learning is determined. Stage 3 is plan learning experiences and instruction. This leads to the following: conduct learning, evaluate and debrief, identify audience and opportunity, and convene faculty collaborators.
