Seminar: Protecting Whistleblowers and Fighting Fraud
Whistleblowers serve the public when they expose fraud in government-funded healthcare programs, leading to millions of dollars in recovered costs. Though laws protect whistleblowers, it still takes great moral courage and leaves individuals exposed to negative consequences.
In this seminar, we are joined by two experts in healthcare fraud to discuss fraud detection and whistleblower protection. Presenters include: Taryn Vian, PhD, Professor, University of San Francisco, School of Nursing and Health Professions; and Maya Efrati, JD, MPP, Director of Legislation and Congressional Affairs, Government Accountability Project. Moderated by Alexander Egilman, Senior Research Assistant, PORTAL, Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Support provided by the Oswald DeN. Cammann Fund at Harvard University.
