Best practices course examining basic ethical and regulatory requirements for conducting research. Course topics include: mentor/mentee relationships and responsibilities, collaborative research, data acquisition, conflicts of interest and commitment, and contemporary ethical issues in research. Open to all Harvard-affiliated individuals, this course fulfills the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) requirements for RCR institutions.

Eligibility:

  • MD, PhD, or equivalent.
  • Trainees, fellows, and scholars receiving support through any NIH or NSF training, career development award, research education grant, or dissertation research grant.

Time Commitment:

  • 90 minutes class time per week for eight weeks (fall) or seven weeks (spring), plus case studies and readings.

Fee:

  • Tuition free.
