Markella V. Zanni, MD, is a distinguished mentor for the Clinical & Translational Research Academy at Harvard Catalyst. She is a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and serves as director of Women’s Health Research in the Metabolism Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Zanni leads a clinical translational research program focused on elucidating mechanisms of cardiometabolic diseases, particularly in women. Her original research has been funded through multiple grants, with findings published in scientific journals across disciplines. She has been named a Claflin Distinguished Scholar at MGH. She is also the recipient of the Stephen Calderwood Excellence in Mentoring award from MGH’s Department of Medicine, the Award for Excellence in Research Mentoring from the MGH Internal Medicine Residency Program, and a research mentoring award from the Boston Area Nutrition Obesity Research Center.
