Lydia A. Shrier, MD, MPH, is a distinguished mentor with the Clinical & Translational (C/T) Research Academy at Harvard Catalyst. She is research director for the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine and co-director of the Center for Adolescent Behavioral Research at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), where she holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and a professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Shrier’s research focuses on elucidating and intervening on the links between mental health and risk behavior, and on using technology to support screening and brief intervention for substance use in adolescents and young adults. She has conducted multisite clinical trials on behavioral interventions in primary care and reproductive health settings. Shrier has lent her expertise in adolescent health research as a member of the BCH institutional review board for 21 years and as a reviewer and chair of numerous standing and ad hoc study sections for the NIH. An experienced mentor and teacher, Shrier frequently speaks on scientific writing, time management, and career development to members of the Harvard community.
