Community-Based Participatory Research

Community-Based Participatory Research at Harvard

One of the major goals of the Harvard Catalyst is to facilitate and accelerate the transfer of research benefits and innovations from the bedside/doctor's office to the community. One way of doing this is to actively engage the community in the research process through Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR).

As part of the Community Engagement Core of the Harvard Catalyst, the CBPR program is focused on promoting community participation in research and supporting the use of CBPR by Harvard investigators.

The goals of the CBPR program include:

  • Develop information and other resources to guide CBPR research and education
  • Provide consultation on individual projects and initiatives
  • Serve as a venue for training investigators about the principles and practice of community-based participatory research
  • Develop and maintain a web-based directory of existing and potential CBPR collaborators
  • Conduct pilot research whose principal initial focus will be on local communities served by Harvard and its teaching hospitals

As a Harvard faculty member we invite you to become part of a Harvard-wide consortium of CBPR researchers by filling out this survey.
