Harvard Catalyst Profile: Vikas Sukhatme M.D. Ph.D.

Dr. Vikas Sukhatme wears many hats. In addition to his appointment as the Victor J. Aresty Professor of Medicine at HMS, he is the Chief Academic Officer at BIDMC, Harvard Faculty Dean at BIDMC and Chief of the Division of Interdisciplinary Medicine and Biotechnology in the Department of Medicine. To this list was recently added Program Director of Clinical and Translational Methodologies (CTM) at the Harvard Catalyst. With his background in both pre-clinical and translational research, he is the ideal person to lead a program designed to integrate innovative technologies into clinical and translational research. "CTM is where we wish to marry cutting edge technologies to translational medicine," says Dr. Sukhatme, "and it can be used to speed the process of clinical investigation, make it more cost-effective and to individualize it to those most likely to benefit."
