Awards for Researchers to Perform Human Subjects ResearchThe Harvard Catalyst Clinical Research Center (HCCRC) recently awarded 17 junior investigators up to $5,000 to perform investigator-initiated human subjects research using HCCRC resources. Researchers who are PIs on their study’s IRB were eligible for the awards, excluding associate and full professors. The awardees hail from four institutions and eleven departments/divisions, and each will receive support for above-standard, fee-based resources and services offered at the five clinical research centers located at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), Brigham & Women’s Hospital (BWH), Mass General Hospital (MGH), and MIT. The funding can be used at the HCCRCs for above-standard nutrition services such as DXA, weighed meals, and exercise testing, and for nursing services such as frequent blood sampling and 1:1 nursing. Additionally, recipients can utilize psychometric testing/analysis, polysomnography. ultrasound, above-standard sample processing services, and research coordinator support.
