The Howard, Dorsey, Still Lecture is named for the first three African Americans to graduate from Harvard Medical School, Edwin Howard (HMS 1869), Thomas Dorsey (HMS 1869), and James Still (HMS 1871), and recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing the nation’s health.

The Diversity Awards were established to recognize faculty and staff of HMS and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine who have made significant achievements in moving HMS/HSDM toward being a diverse and inclusive community. Two awards will be given:

The Harold Amos Faculty Diversity Award
Barbara Bierer, MD, Professor of Medicine, BWH
Karen Emmons, PhD, Deputy Director of the Center for Community-Based Research, DFCI
Alexander Green, MD, Instructor in Medicine, MGH
Harvey Makadon, MD, Clinical Professor of Medicine, BIDMC
Jennifer Potter, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine, BIDMC

The Sharon P. Clayborne Staff Diversity Award
Ricardo Espada, IT-Support Associate I, HMS
