National CTSA Consortium

National Clinical and Translational Science Award Consortium

The Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSAs) program creates a definable academic home for the discipline of clinical and translational science at institutions across the country. This consortium includes 38 academic health centers (AHCs) located throughout the nation. When fully implemented in 2012, about 60 institutions will be linked together to energize the discipline of clinical and translational science. The CTSA consortium is funded by the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR), a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The CTSA Consortium is working together and shares a common vision to:

  • Improve the way biomedical research is conducted across the country
  • Reduce the time it takes for laboratory discoveries to become treatments for patients
  • Engage communities in clinical research efforts
  • Train the next generation of clinical and translational researchers
